New York:Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar emphasized the importance of unity in maintaining the development agenda at the core of the United Nations during the Annual Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the G-77 and China.
According to Radio Pakistan, Dar highlighted the challenges confronting developing nations, such as debt burdens, limited fiscal space, climate vulnerabilities, and growing technology disparities. He urged the translation of agreed commitments into tangible outcomes, including the implementation of the Sevilla Commitment and reforms to the international financial architecture.
Dar also stressed that new UN mechanisms on artificial intelligence must address technological gaps and ensure that developing countries have a significant role in global AI governance. Additionally, he advocated for fair international tax negotiations and reiterated the principles of equity and Common but Differentiated Responsibilities in global climate action.
Reaffirming Pakistan's dedication, Ishaq Dar committed to closely collaborating with the G-77 and China to promote a fairer international economic order and prioritize development within the UN framework.
