US investors taking keen interest in making investment in Pakistan: Masood

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Masood Khan says US investors, including Pakistani American community, are taking keen interest in making investment in Pakistan’s diverse sectors, including mining.

In an exclusive interview with PTV, he pointed out that eighty US companies are already operating in Pakistan. He said both the countries have held result-oriented talks for improvement of relations in diverse fields.

The Ambassador informed that a meeting of Pak-US trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) was held after eight years where some key decisions were taken.

He said both the sides have decided to promote cooperation in Green Energy, Education, Health and Climate Change. The trade volume is also increasing, adding that Pakistan’s exports most of its products to the United States. He said Pakistan can also take advantage of the US technology and knowledge to enhance its agriculture yield while there is also great scope of cooperation in the IT sector. Masood Khan said there is an understanding to continue cooperation in countering-terrorism.

About Afghanistan, the Ambassador said peace and stability of Afghanistan is important for regional peace and stability.

Regarding Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar’s visit to the New York and his upcoming address to the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the ambassador said the visit will provide an opportunity to the Prime Minister to highlight important matters at session.

He said the Prime Minister will also hold meetings with world leaders on the sidelines of the session besides visiting the US Think Tanks.

Highlighting the Kashmir dispute, Masood Khan urged India to hold meaningful result-oriented negotiations with Pakistan for amicable solution to all the bilateral disputes. He said Kashmiris have been raising their voices and making legitimate struggle for protecting their inalienable Right-to-Self Determination.

Talking about Pakistan’s internal situation, the ambassador urged all the Pakistani stakeholders concerned to work in cohesion for promoting business-friendly environment and ease of doing business in the country.

About Russia-Ukraine war, Masood Khan urged both the country to come on the negotiating table to seek peaceful solution to the issue. He also urged the United Nations to play its due role in solving the dispute as per UN charter.
