University Sports Olympiad Set to Kick Off in Islamabad.

Islamabad: Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has announced that the four-day University Sports Olympiad will commence in Islamabad from Wednesday. The event promises to bring together more than three thousand sportsmen and athletes from across the country, marking a significant occasion in the national sports calendar.

According to Radio Pakistan, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan emphasized the main objective of the Olympiad is to actively engage the youth in sports activities. This initiative is seen as a platform to identify talented individuals and sportsmen who could potentially represent Pakistan at national and international levels, thereby bringing honor and recognition to the country.

The event will see participation from various stakeholders, including foreign diplomats residing in Islamabad and representatives of development partners, who will grace the University Olympiad. The Chairman highlighted the presence of more than fifty athletes and tennis players, alongside squa
sh players from seven different countries currently in Pakistan, underscoring this as a significant achievement.

Furthermore, Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan noted the restoration of university-level sports ties with Bangladesh, a development following previous disruptions due to riots in the country, as a diplomatic success for the current Pakistani government. He credited the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for the focused promotion of sports activities aimed at showcasing the talent of Pakistani youth.

The Chairman also expressed gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), and the Islamabad Administration in organizing the University Olympiad. This collective effort under the Prime Minister Youth Programme is part of a broader strategy to enhance the potential of youth in various fields, including sports.
