Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has emphasized the importance of a multifaceted approach combining health initiatives and awareness campaigns to address the growing population challenge.
According to Radio Pakistan, speaking at the Pakistan Population Summit in Islamabad today, Tarar stressed that raising awareness is a collective responsibility, involving all segments of society including religious scholars, government, health institutions, civil society, and the media.
Describing the rapid population growth as a critical issue, the Information Minister pointed out its devastating consequences, including high infant mortality rates.
The Information Minister noted that religion is not an impediment in addressing this issue. He said that religion highlights the rights of mothers and children, as well as the responsibilities of husbands, while also advocating for balance in life.
