Tanveer Welcomes Chinese Companies’ Interest in Pakistan’s Agriculture Sector

Islamabad: Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain has appreciated the keen interest shown by the Chinese companies in Pakistan's economic and agricultural potential. He was talking to a leading Chinese company, FAMSUN Group, which called on him in Islamabad today. The two sides discussed various avenues to further strengthen cooperation in agricultural modernization, grain storage, technology transfer, and investment in Pakistan's agri-food sector.

According to Radio Pakistan, Rana Tanveer Hussain welcomed the delegation and expressed that Pakistan greatly values its longstanding friendship with China. He mentioned that the cooperation between Pakistan and China has entered a new phase, with an increasing emphasis on agricultural development, industrial collaboration, technology transfer, innovation, and value addition.

Rana Tanveer Hussain acknowledged FAMSUN's contribution to Pakistan's agri-food sector over the past two decades. He also recognized the company's role in supporting the modernization of feed milling, grain handling, and food processing industries. The Minister encouraged the company to further expand its engagement in Pakistan through long-term investment and strategic partnerships.

He emphasized the urgent need to strengthen Pakistan's grain storage infrastructure and invited FAMSUN to establish a modern chain of high-tech silos across the country. The proposal to establish a pilot demonstration silo at the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) was also discussed.

Rana Tanveer Hussain also requested FAMSUN to send a technical team to visit PARC to assess its existing infrastructure and identify areas where future cooperation could further strengthen agricultural research and technological development. On the occasion, the delegation of the Chinese company, FAMSUN, expressed its appreciation for the Government of Pakistan's commitment to agricultural modernization and investment facilitation.
