Islamabad: A week-long special anti-polio drive is set to commence tomorrow in seventy-nine selected districts across the country. The campaign aims to administer anti-polio drops to approximately nineteen million children under the age of five years and is scheduled to conclude on the 24th of this month.
According to Radio Pakistan, the National Emergency Operations Centre has outlined the distribution of the campaign across various regions. In Punjab, nearly 6.19 million children will be vaccinated across ten districts to combat this crippling disease. Meanwhile, in Sindh, approximately 5.79 million children in twenty districts are slated to receive the anti-polio drops.
The campaign in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa targets 4.61 million children under five years old in twenty-three districts. Similarly, in Balochistan, about 1.99 million children will be vaccinated in twenty-five selected districts. Furthermore, in the federal capital, around 450,000 children are expected to receive the anti-polio drops during this week-long initiative.
To ensure the success and safety of this critical health campaign, the government has arranged foolproof security measures for the polio teams, who will be visiting door to door to administer the vaccines.
