Islamabad: Inspector General Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi has announced that security is on high alert in the capital as twelve processions and forty-eight Majalis are taking place on the occasion of Youm-e-Ashur.
According to Radio Pakistan, IG Rizvi stated that more than four thousand police officers and personnel have been deployed throughout the district. Additionally, fifty-seven security checkpoints have been established to ensure the safety of participants in the processions and Majalis.
IG Rizvi highlighted that entry into the processions and gatherings is being strictly regulated, with thorough checks being conducted. Female police officers have been specifically deployed to check female mourners, ensuring comprehensive security measures are in place.
The security operations are being closely monitored using advanced technologies, including Safe City cameras, body-worn cameras, and drones. The IG emphasized that the entire district’s security is under surveillance from both central and mobile control rooms to ensure a coordinated response to any potential threats.
IG Rizvi also conducted visits to various processions, including those in I-10, F-11, and Jhangi Syedan, to personally review the security arrangements for Youm-e-Ashur-related Majalis.
