Director General Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Muhammad Asim Khichi has said Radio is the most effective and popular medium in dissemination of information during catastrophes and natural calamities.
In his message on World Radio Day, he said Radio has vast outreach even in the time of modern technology and in the presence of other modes of communication.
The Director General said “Radio and Trust” is the theme of this year’s World Radio Day and PBC adheres to it. He said Radio Pakistan is known for broadcasting authentic and credible news and it has never rebutted its news stories. He said world leading news organizations use our news items regarding Pakistan in their stories by crediting Radio Pakistan. Besides, we receive hundreds of emails and phone calls from the public about our content, which shows people’s trust in Radio Pakistan.
Muhammad Asim Khichi said Radio Pakistan broadcasts news, dramas, and programmes pertaining to culture, music, youth, women, history, farmers, and current affairs.
Highlighting ever expanding coverage of Radio Pakistan, he said all transmitters are being transformed from analogue to digitalization, which will not only increase its outreach, but also improve voice quality. He said it will also enhance the quality and standard of Radio Pakistan’s transmissions and expand its coverage area to Far-East, Central Asia, and the Middle Eastern regions. He said in view of modern era, we live stream our transmissions, which can be accessed on Facebook and Twitter by using social media tools. He said Radio Pakistan has also started podcast service in 15 different categories under which opinion and interviews of experts are broadcast. He said this content can be listened on Radio Pakistan’s website.
The Director General said Radio Pakistan, being the state broadcaster, has always played a leading and exemplary role in countering negative propaganda against Pakistan and the government. He said Radio Pakistan is playing an important role in safeguarding Pakistan’s integrity on the ideological front and highlighting country’s international policies through its transmissions. He said the Indian Prime Minister had once said that Radio Pakistan’s transmission in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir is more dangerous than Kashmiri Mujahideen.
