Punjab Police Implements Comprehensive Welfare Initiatives Under IG Anwar’s Leadership

Lahore: The Punjab Police, under the guidance of Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, has significantly enhanced welfare initiatives for its personnel and their families this year, distributing Rs. 16.6 billion in various forms of support. These measures underscore a comprehensive approach to bolstering the well-being and morale of the force.

According to Punjab Police announcement issued on 13 September 2024, a breakdown of the welfare distribution includes Rs. 5.82 billion for educational scholarships, Rs. 1.84 billion for medical grants, and Rs. 4.17 billion for wedding gifts for daughters of police employees and martyrs. Additionally, Rs. 492 million was allocated for funeral expenses, and over Rs. 2.2 billion was issued as farewell grants for retirees. Maintenance allowances amounting to Rs. 1.8 billion were also provided to families of employees.

Further highlighting the commitment to welfare, IG Anwar announced Rs. 15.5 million for building homes for families of police martyrs and Rs. 13.5 million for emergency aid to support personnel in urgent need. Additionally, Rs. 8.7 million was set aside for legal aid to assist police employees requiring legal representation. Dr. Anwar emphasized the ongoing priority of these welfare measures and projected further increases to ensure comprehensive support across health, education, and other critical areas for the police force and their dependents.
