Punjab Govt to Establish Special Planning Authority

Lahore: Punjab government has decided to establish a Special Planning Authority to regulate zoning for commercial, residential, and agricultural lands to curb illegal housing societies. The announcement was made following a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Lahore.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Special Planning Authority (SPA) will oversee district land use planning and zoning with mandatory reviews every four years. The establishment of the SPA aims to streamline land use and prevent the proliferation of unauthorized housing developments that have been a significant concern in the region.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also reviewed proposals for eco-friendly and walkable housing societies. She emphasized the importance of sustainable urban development and assessed progress on the Lahore Development Plan, aiming to create a more organized and environmentally conscious urban landscape.
