Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Wattoo’s Participation as Keynote Speaker at COMSAT University and Virtual University of Pakistan

Lahore: Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Wattoo from the Department of Biotechnology, FOST, was invited as a speaker and guest of honor at an interdisciplinary seminar on ‘Epigenetics and Mental Health’ hosted by the Department of Psychology, COMSATS University, and the Department of Biological Sciences, Virtual University of Pakistan. He spoke on the role of mental health in influencing gene expression in response to environmental factors and how this can affect susceptibility to mental health disorders. His participation reflected on UCP’s commitment to fostering interdisciplinary research and innovation.

According to University of Central Punjab, Dr. Wattoo’s lecture focused on how environmental factors can modify gene expression and influence mental health outcomes. The seminar aimed to bridge the gap between psychology and biological sciences, encouraging collaboration and knowledge sharing in these fields. The presence of Dr. Wattoo highlighted the importance of integrating diverse academic disciplines to address complex health issues.

The seminar attracted students, faculty, and researchers from various academic backgrounds, emphasizing the growing interest in understanding the genetic and environmental interplay in mental health. Attendees had the opportunity to engage with Dr. Wattoo, asking questions and discussing potential research collaborations. His insights contributed to a broader understanding of the topic, inspiring future research initiatives in epigenetics and mental health.
