President, PM Call for Unity to End Violence Against Women

Islamabad: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif have reaffirmed national resolve to work towards building a society where women’s rights are protected and gender-based violence is no longer tolerated.

According to Radio Pakistan, in their separate messages on the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, they called upon government institutions, civil society, and communities to intensify their collective efforts to end violence against women and to ensure that laws are not only enacted but fully implemented.

The President emphasized that empowering women and girls through education, skill-building, and ensuring financial independence is foundational to ending the cycle of violence.

The Prime Minister highlighted that the Constitution of Pakistan clearly guarantees dignity and respect for women and provides equal rights. Shehbaz Sharif also spotlighted the government endeavours to ensure institutional support for women affected by violence.
