Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended an invitation to Turkish companies to broaden their investment in Pakistan and contribute their expertise towards the country’s structural reforms, economic growth, and development. This invitation was made during a meeting with Turkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and Minister of National Defence, Yasar Gler, who visited him in Islamabad on Wednesday.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of concerted efforts by both nations to increase bilateral trade, aiming to achieve the mutually agreed target of five billion dollars. He reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to enhancing cooperation with Turkiye in various sectors, including trade, investment, technology, and defense.
Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the deep-rooted fraternal ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, which are based on shared history, culture, and mutual respect. He also expressed contentment with the positive developments in bilateral relations. Reflecting on his discussions with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s determination to elevate Pak-Turkiye relations to a strategic partnership in the near future.
The Prime Minister welcomed the upcoming meeting of the Joint Commission, co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, expressing optimism that bilateral relations would gain further momentum, enhancing cooperation in various areas.
Reiterating the commitment of both countries to support each other’s core interests, the Prime Minister stressed the need for closer coordination amidst the rapidly changing regional and global environment, particularly concerning Gaza and Iran. He also expressed profound gratitude to the Turkish nation and leadership for their unwavering support to Pakistan during recent Indian aggression.
