PM Vows to Ensure Security of Chinese Citizens in Pakistan

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of Chinese citizens residing in Pakistan. Chairing a high-level review meeting on security arrangements for Chinese citizens in Pakistan, the Prime Minister stated that multiple measures are being taken to strengthen their protection across the country, including Islamabad.

According to Radio Pakistan, the Prime Minister highlighted the Safe City projects being implemented across the country, which exemplify Pakistan’s growing capabilities in security management. He noted that these projects are being developed in accordance with international standards to enhance safety for all residents.

Expressing the longstanding fraternal relations between Pakistan and China, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that the protection of Chinese nationals is the top priority of the government. He underscored the significance of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, describing it as a vital joint project which is entering its second phase. With increased focus on business-to-business cooperation, safeguarding Chinese citizens and investments has become even more critical.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan aims to create a secure and business-friendly environment for the Chinese community, recognizing that Chinese companies’ confidence is vital for the country’s economic future. He called for prioritized steps to facilitate the movement of Chinese nationals at airports across Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was briefed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on security arrangements across the country. It was informed that special arrangements are in place for the protection of the Chinese nationals in the backdrop of terror threats. The meeting was further informed that the Federation and the provinces are working in complete collaboration in this connection.
