Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved the launch of the largest ever reform program for Ease of Doing Business in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister accorded the approval while chairing a meeting regarding ease of doing business, in Islamabad today.
Under this program, the establishment of the first digital registry of Pakistani laws and regulations for the promotion of business and investment was also approved.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister thanked the international organizations for showing interest in funding this project. The Prime Minister directed the international organizations that expressed interest in funding the project to finalize the agreement.
The Prime Minister instructed the relevant authorities and ministries to ensure the timely practical implementation of the policy measures in this regard. He constituted a special committee for the implementation of the project.
Under the first phase of the project, the reforms of the most important sectors will be started. The Prime Min
ister specially thanked Dr. Scott Jacob for working on the project.
The meeting was briefed about the details of the project as well as the deadline for its implementation. It was informed that the registry will consolidate and digitize all existing laws and regulations for investment in the country. All the unnecessary rules and regulations that hinder investment and business in the country will be abolished. It was briefed that digitization will reduce the time required for registration, permits and other necessary steps by removing bureaucratic hurdles.
This initiative will not only create more ease in investment and business, but will also start the rapid development of the private sector in the country.
