Islamabad: Pakistan joins the global celebration of World Tourism Day, emphasizing the theme “Tourism and Peace.” The Prime Minister highlighted the sector’s role in fostering international harmony and boosting economic development across the nation.

According to Press Information Department, the Prime Minister released a message on the occasion, underscoring the importance of tourism in bridging cultural gaps and promoting peace. The theme for this year, as set by the United Nations Tourism Organization, resonates with Pakistan’s ongoing efforts to utilize tourism as a pivotal force for social and economic advancement. The Prime Minister elaborated on how tourism not only enhances mutual understanding and cultural exchange but also contributes significantly to the economy by creating jobs and supporting sustainable development goals.

Pakistan, renowned for its diverse landscapes and rich historical heritage, including ancient civilizations like Mehrgarh, Mohenjo-Daro, Harappa, and Gandhara, offers vast opportunities for the tourism sector. This move aims to attract more visitors and stimulate socioeconomic growth.

The Prime Minister also noted the comprehensive efforts made by both federal and provincial governments to promote various forms of tourism, including recreational, adventure, religious, heritage, sports, eco, wildlife, and cultural tourism. These initiatives are part of a broader strategy to position Pakistan as a top tourist destination by showcasing the country’s hospitality and resilience.

In his message, the Prime Minister called for collective efforts to harness the full potential of sustainable tourism, which would pave the way for a prosperous and peaceful future for coming generations. He expressed confidence that the measures taken by the government will significantly enhance the tourism sector’s contribution to Pakistan’s socioeconomic development.
