Pakistan Has Strong Capacity for Profitable Economic Partnerships: Rizwan Saeed

Washington: Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States, Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, has emphasized that Pakistan possesses a robust and long-term capacity for establishing profitable economic partnerships. He made these remarks during a meeting with members of prominent American think tanks in Washington, which was attended by representatives from leading US intellectual and policy circles.

According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting involved detailed discussions on Pakistan-US bilateral relations and the regional and global situation. Rizwan Saeed Sheikh presented Pakistan's perspective on key regional and international issues to the American intellectual community. He highlighted that 2025 marked a year of significant transformations in Pakistan-US relations, stressing that the improved relations between the two countries are essential for the future and not merely temporary.

The Ambassador underscored Pakistan's role in global affairs, noting its consistent contribution to promoting regional and international peace and stability. He remarked that the partnership between Pakistan and the United States has been productive in advancing mutual interests and contributing to global peace. He also mentioned the commitment to enhancing cooperation in sectors such as minerals, energy, and information technology, which has added a new dimension to bilateral relations.

Rizwan Saeed Sheikh pointed out that over 65 percent of Pakistan's population comprises youth, which holds potential to address human resource shortages in the United States and globally. He invited American investors and the manufacturing sector to explore opportunities arising from Pakistan's competitive advantage in terms of lower costs and quality.

The meeting also included discussions on the impact of terrorism originating from Afghanistan and Pakistan's constructive role in addressing the challenge. The Ambassador reaffirmed Pakistan's determination to eradicate terrorism and emphasized the country's priority for diplomatic resolution of disputes. He referenced events in May 2025, asserting that Pakistan cannot be coerced regarding its sovereignty and national dignity.

The Ambassador highlighted Indian aggression in May 2025 as a serious threat to regional peace and underscored the importance of resolving the Kashmir issue in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and United Nations resolutions. He criticized India's unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty as unlawful and urged the international community to address the issue of using water as a weapon.

Participants from American think tanks expressed appreciation for Pakistan's foreign policy, its role in global politics and peace, and its effective diplomacy.
