Pakistan Government Launches Simplified Business Scheme to Boost Trader Compliance and Connectivity

Karachi, The government of Pakistan has rolled out a new scheme aimed at simplifying business operations and improving trader connectivity, as detailed in a recent meeting of the Sindh Regional Standing Committee for Small Traders of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI). The initiative, described as trader-friendly and straightforward, is designed to facilitate small traders in adapting to modern business practices and regulatory requirements.

According to Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry, the scheme was presented at a gathering that included Muhammad Naeem Mir, the Chief of the Traders Dost Scheme; Dr. Muhammad Sarmad Qureshi, Chief Commissioner RTI; Hina Karam, Chief Commissioner RTO; and several other key officials and business leaders. They emphasized the necessity of registration and assured traders of FPCCI’s support to alleviate any apprehensions about the new system. The meeting also addressed the broader goal of increasing tax compliance and enhancing interactions between traders and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The speakers at the meeting, including Senior Vice President of FPCCI Saqib Fayyaz Magu and Mian Zahid Hussain, policy chairman, discussed the potential of the scheme to boost Pakistan’s GDP and development by making tax policies more business-friendly and reducing the perceived adversarial role of the FBR. They argued that such reforms are crucial for the economic system and could encourage voluntary tax compliance among traders.

Naeem Mir highlighted that the scheme has already seen about twenty-two thousand registrations, with dedicated offices and staff established across the country to support traders. This initiative, he noted, simplifies the process for traders to engage with tax authorities without the need for intermediaries like lawyers.

The meeting concluded with a consensus on the importance of improving government policies to support the business community, and an affirmation of full cooperation from FPCCI to ensure the scheme’s success.
