Islamabad: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to continue coordinating their efforts to secure peace and stability in the region. This consensus was reached during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Islamabad on Sunday.
According to Radio Pakistan, during the meeting, Prime Minister Sharif warmly welcomed the Saudi Foreign Minister, conveying his respects to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and greetings to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The Prime Minister reiterated Pakistan's unwavering support for the Kingdom and acknowledged Saudi Arabia's restraint amid the ongoing crisis. He assured the Saudi Foreign Minister of Pakistan's steadfast alliance with Saudi Arabia.
Prime Minister Sharif also recalled his recent discussions with the Crown Prince, including their meeting in Jeddah earlier this month. He shared details of Pakistan's diplomatic outreach efforts during the crisis, which included mediation efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions and facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.
The Prime Minister emphasized Saudi Arabia's leadership role within the Muslim Ummah and the importance of unity among Islamic countries during these critical times. In response, the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed gratitude for the reception and shared Saudi Arabia's perspective on the regional situation.
Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, National Security Advisor Lieutenant General Muhammad Asim Malik, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi were present to assist the Prime Minister during the meeting.
