Pakistan and China Forge New Agreements to Enhance Bilateral Cooperation

Beijing: Pakistan and China have signed and exchanged a series of agreements, Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), protocols, and cooperation documents aimed at strengthening their bilateral ties. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang were present at the signing ceremony held in Beijing.

According to Radio Pakistan, the agreements and MoUs are designed to deepen cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, agriculture, science and technology, climate change, education, media, and people-to-people exchanges. Key documents signed include the Executive Program on Educational Cooperation and Exchanges, the Protocol on Inspection, Quarantine and Sanitary Requirements for Dried Fruits and Nuts, and the Protocol of Phytosanitary Requirements for Maize.

Additional MoUs focused on enhancing development cooperation in agriculture, economic development, environmental and climate change, and educational exchanges between the Foreign Service Academy and China Foreign Affairs University. A letter of exchange on animal vaccines and several other MoUs between educational and media institutions of both countries were also signed.

The agreements further included the establishment of a Sister-Province Relationship between China's Zhejiang Province and Pakistan's Punjab Province. Prime Minister Sharif remarked that these agreements reflect the expanding scope of Pakistan-China cooperation and will contribute to the welfare and prosperity of their citizens.
