New York:Pakistan and Bangladesh have expressed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people contacts. This was discussed during a meeting between Pakistan's Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Radio Pakistan, the two Prime Ministers reviewed bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in ties between Pakistan and Bangladesh. They also discussed regional and global developments, emphasizing the importance of continued coordination at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan's determination to deepen mutually beneficial relations with Bangladesh. He congratulated Bangladesh on assuming the Presidency of the 81st UN General Assembly and assured Pakistan's support for Bangladesh's efforts to advance the objectives of the United Nations.
Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reciprocated the sentiment, expressing satisfaction with the positive trajectory of bilateral ties and his government's desire to enhance relations between the two countries.
In a post on social media platform X, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that both leaders agreed to deepen cooperation in various fields while maintaining close coordination on regional and global issues as well as at multilateral forums. He also congratulated Bangladesh on its new role at the UNGA and assured Pakistan's support for its successful conduct.
