Pakistan and Azerbaijan Pledge to Bolster Strategic Ties in Economic and Defense Sectors.

Baku: Pakistan and Azerbaijan have reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing their strategic partnership across several sectors, with a particular emphasis on economic and defense cooperation, as well as fostering closer people-to-people and cultural connections. This commitment was highlighted during a meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of Pakistan and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan, held on the sidelines of the World Leaders Climate Action Summit (COP-29) in Baku.

According to Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated President Ilham Aliyev on the successful organization of the summit. He praised the Azerbaijani leader’s vision and efforts towards strengthening international collaboration to tackle the pressing challenges posed by climate change. The Prime Minister remarked on Pakistan’s vulnerability to climate change impacts, despite its minimal contribution to global emissions, and reiterated Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate with Azerbaijan and other global partners
to address climate-related issues.

Furthermore, Prime Minister Sharif expressed optimism about expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan in various sectors, particularly in technology sharing and joint ventures in renewable energy. Both leaders also engaged in discussions regarding the escalating tensions in the Middle East and other significant regional and international developments.
