Karachi, The Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and the Site Association of Industry (SAI) have called on K-Electric (KE) to urgently restore full electricity services to the Site area following a fire at the Haroonabad Grid Station. It has been seven days since the incident, and the delay in restoring power has caused significant losses to local industries.
According to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, President Iftikhar Ahmed Sheikh and SAI President Mohammad Kamran Arbi, the ongoing power outage has severely disrupted production activities, threatening both the local economy and the livelihoods of daily wage workers. The industrial leaders expressed their concerns and are considering legal action to seek compensation for the losses attributed to what they describe as KE’s negligence.
The statement further emphasized the critical impact of the service interruption on the economic and export sectors, highlighting the urgent need for KE to address the situation promptly. Both presidents have urged KE to prioritize the resolution of this issue to prevent further economic damage and to support the continuity of work for those affected in the Site area.
