Islamabad: Ambassador of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, has stated that while Iran does not seek conflict, it is fully prepared to counter any imposed aggression with all its resources. He conveyed this during a briefing to media representatives at the Iranian Embassy in Islamabad, addressing recent developments both within Iran and the broader region.
According to Radio Pakistan, Ambassador Moghadam stressed the commitment of Iran's government and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei to resolving issues through dialogue and diplomacy. Despite this, he emphasized Iran's right to defend itself against any external threats or hostile actions. He also acknowledged Pakistan's role in attempting to mediate the US-Iran tensions, noting that the success of such efforts hinges on the other party's cooperation.
The Ambassador expressed gratitude towards the Pakistani government, citizens, and media for their unwavering support during challenging times. He highlighted the continuous communication and strengthened collaboration between Iran and Pakistan amid recent regional developments.
Addressing the recent violent protests in Iran, Moghadam affirmed the government's recognition of the public's right to protest. He mentioned that the Supreme Leader had instructed the government to address the protestors' concerns, marking a significant step by inviting protest representatives to a cabinet meeting. The Iranian government has also taken measures to tackle the issues raised by protestors and stabilize the economy.
In response to inquiries, Ambassador Moghadam assured that normalcy has returned across Iran, with peace restored. He reported that over three thousand one hundred individuals, including security personnel, died during the protests, and significant damage was inflicted on public and private properties. The situation is now stabilized, and the arrested individuals, allegedly supported from abroad, will face legal proceedings in accordance with Iranian law.
