Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed that this year’s Independence Day be celebrated under the theme ‘Maarka-e-Haq’ as a tribute to the resilience and unity of the entire nation in the face of unprovoked Indian aggression.
According to Radio Pakistan, a preliminary meeting was held in Islamabad with Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal chairing the session to plan the celebrations. Senior representatives from various government departments, including the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Ministries of Information and Broadcasting, Interior, National Heritage and Culture, Education, and Inter Provincial Coordination, were present.
The minister stated that the celebrations will send a clear message to the world that Pakistan stands proud, strong, and committed to its sovereignty. He highlighted the government’s aim to showcase the steady progress being made in economic recovery, defense resilience, and international recognition of Pakistan’s achievements.
Ahsan Iqbal instructed the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Secretary of Education to ensure that all universities and schools celebrate the day in a uniform manner. He also advised that celebrations extend across provinces and internationally, in collaboration with the Overseas Ministry. He emphasized that the celebrations will honor the spirit of ‘Marqa-e-Haq’, where all sectors of the nation stood united.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi remarked that the nation remains united, unshaken, and ready to thwart any adversarial designs. He noted that the civil and military forces are aligned, and the celebrations will reiterate national unity and strength.
Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, disclosed that extensive plans are in progress, featuring song competitions, special programs, and a documentary. Meanwhile, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training, mentioned that schools and students are enthusiastic about the upcoming celebrations, which will include debates, essay competitions, and painting contests.
During the meeting, various proposals were discussed to ensure the celebrations resonate with ordinary Pakistanis and involve everyone. The government extends an invitation to every Pakistani, young and old, to participate in the festivities and demonstrate to the world the strength, pride, and unity of the nation.
