Islamabad:Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held talks with Guatemala's Minister of Foreign Affairs Carlos Ramiro Martnez Alvarado during the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
According to Radio Pakistan, the meeting highlighted the amicable relations between Pakistan and Guatemala. Both ministers expressed satisfaction with the recently signed Agreement on Bilateral Political Consultations, which is expected to facilitate regular engagement and enhance cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The Guatemalan Foreign Minister lauded Pakistan for its active involvement in diplomatic and mediation efforts aimed at fostering regional peace and stability. Discussions also covered the impact of current crises on energy supplies, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining the free flow of energy and maritime trade, as well as the significance of dialogue and diplomacy in overcoming regional challenges.
Both ministers stressed the value of multilateralism in tackling global issues and reiterated their commitment to multilateral institutions, particularly the United Nations. The Guatemalan Foreign Minister further acknowledged Pakistan's significant contributions to UN peacekeeping operations.
The meeting concluded with both parties agreeing to maintain contact on issues of mutual concern.
