Islamabad: CM Punjab Green Credit Program is a unique and flagship programme of Punjab Government designed to promote positive environmental actions. This was stated by Team Leader CMPGCP Rizwana Anjum while in an exclusive interview with Radio Pakistan’s correspondent Qasim Bukhari.
According to Radio Pakistan, Rizwana Anjum highlighted that the CMPGCP aims to make Punjab greener, more sustainable, and climate-resilient through inclusive climate action, access to the global carbon market, and the use of innovative policy tools. The program is part of the Punjab Growth Strategy and contributes to achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supports Pakistan’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), and aligns with the Punjab Climate Change Policy and Action Plan.
Under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the provincial government has prioritized environmental sustainability and allocated a substantial budget to address climate change. Rizwana Anjum elaborated that the CMPGCP comprises three main components: Green Credits, tapping into the international carbon market, and an Emission Trading System. The “Green Credit” is a cash incentive awarded to Green Guardians who carry out verified climate-positive actions under the CM Punjab Green Credit Program.
