Islamabad: The Government has decided to take stringent action against Pakistani citizens deported from foreign countries. The decision was taken during a meeting in Islamabad today under the chair of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. Speaking at the meeting, the Interior Minister said the passports of the Pakistanis, who were returning to the country after being deported, would be cancelled and FIR would be lodged against them. He said deportees were causing embarrassment for Pakistan at the international level, thus no leniency would be shown to them.
According to Radio Pakistan, it was further decided in the meeting that deportees would be placed on the Passport Control List for five years. On the instructions of the Interior Minister, a committee led by the interior secretary has been formed to further improve passport rules and regulations.
