Govt steered country out of difficult situation: Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi says the incumbent government has successfully steered the country out of difficult situation by dint of its tight decisions.

Addressing a ceremony in Multan today, he said that ten dams are being constructed to strengthen the agriculture sector and produce cheap electricity, reflecting our long-term planning for the development of the country.

He said that we are negotiating the gas pipe line project with Turkmenistan in order to solve the gas shortage in the country.

Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that previous governments had signed such agreements with the power generation companies that we have to pay them even not consuming their electricity.

The Foreign Minister regretted that previous government left budget deficit of 20 billion.
