Islamabad: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, reaffirmed the government's commitment to the welfare of journalists and the resolution of media-related issues. This statement was made during a meeting with the newly-elected President of the National Press Club, Abdul Razaq Sial, and Secretary Dr. Furqan Rao, who visited him in Islamabad.
According to Radio Pakistan, the Information Minister highlighted the pivotal role played by the National Press Club in addressing the problems faced by the journalist community and in promoting professional values. He praised the club as a significant voice advocating for journalists' welfare and emphasized its contribution to enhancing their professional environment.
The meeting included detailed discussions on several key issues, such as the housing quota for journalists, the grant allocated to the National Press Club under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and health insurance matters. Attaullah Tarar also provided necessary instructions concerning the grant aimed at the construction of the National Press Club building under the PSDP.
