Karachi: Governor Kamran Khan Tesori of Sindh announced the creation of a special cell within the Governor House dedicated to supporting and expanding the capabilities of small businesses, with a particular focus on export challenges. The announcement was made during an address at the Rice Export Association Pakistan (REAP) event on October 2, 2024.

According to Sindh Governor House, the newly established cell is designed to offer comprehensive assistance to small business owners facing operational and export-related issues. During his address, Governor Tesori highlighted the importance of this initiative for the economic development of the region and acknowledged the significant achievements of local exporters, particularly in the rice sector.

The Governor congratulated the newly elected Chairman of the Association, Faisal Jahangir, and Senior Vice Chairman Javed Jilani, expressing optimism about reaching new export targets. He proposed an ambitious new goal of an additional $2 billion in exports, building on the current success of achieving a $4 billion milestone from an initial $300 million.

Governor Tesori emphasized the global demand for Pakistani products, such as rice and Sindh pickle, and called for unified efforts to stabilize the national economy, urging all political parties to prioritize economic over political differences. He also mentioned plans to address the concerns of the IT sector, suggesting potential exports ranging from $10 to $15 billion.
