Global Kashmir Campaign Chairman Calls for International Action Against India’s Policies in Kashmir

London: Nazir Ahmad Qureshi, Chairman of the Global Kashmir Campaign and a founding member of the World Kashmir Freedom Movement, has called on the international community to address India’s aggressive policies in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), labeling the repeal of Article 370 and 35A as a stark violation of international norms.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Qureshi, speaking in London, described India’s actions on August 5, 2019, which revoked the special status of Kashmir, as a direct challenge to global diplomatic principles and the United Nations Charter. He argued that these actions not only disregard Kashmir’s internationally recognized disputed status but also aim to alter the region’s demographic balance by converting the Muslim majority into a Hindu minority.

Qureshi highlighted the harsh repercussions faced by the Kashmiri population post-abrogation, including widespread human rights abuses, detentions of thousands of youths and Hurriyat leaders, and the systematic targeting of Muslim Kashmiris through dismissal from jobs and confiscation of properties.

He marked August 5 as one of the darkest days in the history of IIOJK and urged global powers to take decisive steps to curb India’s actions, which he warned could escalate tensions and threaten international peace.
