Minister for Finance Miftah Ismail has urged international development partners to extend broad based support and assistance to the recent flood affectees in Pakistan.
He was talking to World Food Program’s Special Advisor on Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition, Princess of Jordon Sarah Zeid Raád in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Finance Minister extended warm welcome to the Princess of Jordon and thanked World Food Program for continuous support to Pakistan in the form of humanitarian assistance.
He highlighted the reform initiatives introduced by the government for socio-economic uplift of the people including the financial relief being provided to the women and flood affectees through Benazir Income Support Program.
The Minister also apprised the visiting dignitary of the government’s support for women development, Mother and Child healthcare, nutrition facilities and children education.
Speaking on the occasion, Princess Sarah Zeid underlined WFP’s interventions in diverse sectors in Pakistan and appreciated Pakistan’s cooperation at federal and provincial levels.
She expressed the desire to work with Pakistani government in humanitarian assistance, food and nutritional needs, poverty alleviation and women development.
