DPM, Singaporean FM Discuss Repatriation of Pakistani, Iranian Seafarers

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has spoken with Singaporean Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan and sought Singapore's support in facilitating the welfare and repatriation of eleven Pakistani and twenty Iranian seafarers aboard vessels seized by U.S. authorities near Singaporean waters.

According to Radio Pakistan, Ishaq Dar has stated in a post on his X handle that Pakistan is closely coordinating with U.S. authorities and other stakeholders to ensure the safety, welfare, and earliest possible return of Pakistani nationals. The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of securing the welfare of the seafarers during this delicate situation.

Ishaq Dar further mentioned that he also held a conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi as Pakistan and Iran remain in close coordination on the matter. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both nations to address the complexities involved in the repatriation process.

He stated that Pakistan is ready to facilitate the safe repatriation of Iranian nationals to Iran through Pakistan. The Deputy Prime Minister also acknowledged the cooperation and support being extended by Singapore in this regard, highlighting the importance of international collaboration in resolving the situation effectively.
