New york: Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar is set to depart from Beijing for New York tomorrow on a three-day visit. During his stay, he will participate in the United Nations Security Council Open Debate focusing on "Maintenance of International Peace and Security: Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the UN-Centered International System."
According to Radio Pakistan, the debate has been organized by China, which holds the rotating presidency of the UN Security Council this month. The session will be chaired by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.
In addition to the debate, Ishaq Dar is scheduled to attend a meeting of the Group of Friends on Global Governance. The meeting, set for Thursday, will address the theme "Reforming and Improving Global Governance, Working Together to Address Global Challenges."
