Daraz’s 11.11 Sale Connects Communities, Boosts Small Businesses, and Expands E-commerce Reach in Pakistan

Karachi, Daraz, South Asia’s leading e-commerce platform, successfully concluded its annual 11.11 Biggest Sale of the Year. The event witnessed over 34 million users in Pakistan engaging with the platform, with female sellers reporting an average sales increase of over 170% compared to a regular day.

According to Daraz, the platform’s mission to democratize e-commerce was evident in this year’s event. Daraz offered competitive prices and a diverse range of products, attracting customers across various categories, including electronics, fashion, beauty, and groceries. The 11.11 sale was a boon for sellers and brands, with Daraz supporting over 45,000 of them. The company’s efforts included onboarding workshops and new co-funded programs to reduce the cost of doing business. As a result, sellers experienced a twofold increase in sales during the event.

Content creators also benefited from the 11.11 sale, with many seeing up to a fourfold growth in earnings, marking a significant step in their career development and income generation.

Daraz’s focus on accessibility extended to underserved regions in Pakistan. The company’s delivery network expansion led to a more than 300% increase in shoppers from outside major cities like Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad. With over 6,000 riders from Daraz logistics partners, the platform managed to deliver packages as far as 1,410 kilometers, from Karachi to Konodas near Gilgit.

Bjarke Mikkelsen, CEO of Daraz, emphasized the platform’s role in current economic challenges, stating, “In times of economic uncertainty and rising inflation, our mission to uplift communities through commerce is particularly crucial. This year, we’ve focused on boosting seller sales and enhancing the affordability and accessibility of online shopping.”

Ehsan Saya, Managing Director of Daraz Pakistan, reflected on the impact of the platform’s large-scale campaigns, especially in challenging economic times. He highlighted the continuous effort to gather community feedback, which helps introduce innovative initiatives and compelling offers. Looking forward, Saya expressed excitement for the upcoming 12.12 Year-End Grand Sale.

The 11.11 sale in Pakistan revealed several key trends:

Fashion, especially traditional clothing for women, saw over 150,000 apparel sales in the first 24 hours.

Spices emerged as a favorite, with one in five grocery purchases being a spice.

DIY products, including fairy lights and bookshelves, were highly popular, with over 330,000 home and living items sold in the first day.
