The Very Severe Cyclonic Storm “BIPARJOY” in the east-central Arabian Sea has maintained its intensity and is currently located at approximately 910km south of Karachi, 890km south of Thatta, and 990km southeast of Ormara.
According to the National Disaster Management Authority the cyclone is moving north-northeastward with maximum sustained surface winds of 120-130 Km/hour and gusts of 150 Km/hour near its center.
Favorable conditions, such as high sea surface temperatures, low vertical wind shear, and upper-level divergence, are expected to further strengthen the storm.
However, there is uncertainty regarding its final track forecast, with some models suggesting it could approach the Makran-North Oman coast, while others indicate the Indian Gujarat-Sindh coast.
Over the next 18-24 hours, the system is predicted to continue moving north/northeastward before slightly recurving to the north-northwest.
