Chinese Firms Set to Expand Role in CPEC’s Second Phase

Islamabad, Chinese companies have expressed optimism about expanding their investments in Pakistan following the Prime Minister’s recent visit to China, which is expected to open up new opportunities for the second phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, leading Chinese engineering and power firms, including China Machinery Engineering Corporation (CMEC) and Power Construction Corporation of China (POWERCHINA), are eager to enhance their investments and start new projects in various sectors across Pakistan. Dai Bao, Vice General Manager of CMEC, speaking to the Chinese media, noted the progress in Pakistan and expressed confidence in the benefits both nations will derive from the upcoming projects.

Bao emphasized the strong support from both governments, which he believes will significantly contribute to the success of these milestone projects. Additionally, POWERCHINA plans to seek further collaboration with international partners to exploit Pakistan’s abundant natural resources, including water, wind, solar, and minerals.
