Islamabad: In Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed serious concern over the continued illegal detention of thousands of Kashmiris, including Hurriyat leaders languishing in various jails across India and the territory.
According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas, in a statement issued in Srinagar, condemned the prolonged incarceration of Hurriyat leaders. He stated that these leaders, along with other Kashmiri detainees, have been imprisoned for years on politically motivated charges. He alleged that the BJP-led Indian government is using the judiciary and state institutions as tools to suppress pro-freedom voices in the occupied territory.
The APHC spokesman reiterated the resolve of the Kashmiris to continue their struggle for self-determination until it reaches its logical conclusion. He called for the peaceful resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, emphasizing the need to ensure lasting peace in South Asia.
Meanwhile, the Congress chapter in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir has strongly criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ignoring the long-standing demand for the restoration of statehood to the territory. They urged the BJP government to fulfill its commitment in this regard without further delay.
According to Kashmir Media Service, senior Congress leaders in IIOJK, including Raman Bhalla, Mula Ram, Yogesh Sawhney, and Ravinder Sharma, raised these concerns during a press conference in Jammu. They expressed disappointment that Modi, during his recent speech in Reasi, failed to mention the restoration of statehood, a promise that has been made repeatedly by the BJP leadership.
