Srinagar: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned recent remarks by Indian Home Minister Amit Shah concerning the Indus Water Treaty, describing them as a form of communal provocation and hate-driven politics. The APHC claims these comments are intended to deepen divisions in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Radio Pakistan, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas issued a statement in Srinagar on Sunday, arguing that such remarks represent a dangerous escalation of the Modi regime’s anti-Kashmir policies. Minhas emphasized that Pakistan holds legitimate rights over the rivers that originate from the disputed region.
The APHC spokesman further reiterated that the only path to lasting peace in South Asia lies in the just resolution of the Kashmir dispute, which he insists should be achieved through a UN-supervised plebiscite.
In related developments, the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two Kashmiri youths in the Islamabad district under the stringent Unlawful Activities Prevention Act. The NIA alleges that the detained youths were involved in sheltering armed men in April. However, local residents have staunchly denied these accusations, insisting that the youths are innocent civilians with no connections to militancy.
