Ambassador Khalil Hashmi Advocates for Increased Pakistan-China Media Collaboration

Islamabad: Ambassador Khalil Hashmi has called for enhanced media cooperation between Pakistan and China, aiming to strengthen bilateral relations and counter negative propaganda about their partnership. His remarks were made during the unveiling of a documentary at the Pakistan Television (PTV) headquarters today, highlighting the historical ties and shared projects between the two nations.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Ambassador Hashmi detailed the progress of a television co-production agreement between Pakistan’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and China’s National Radio and Television Administration. This agreement is set to facilitate joint television productions, enriching the content landscape of both countries. Additionally, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between China Media Group and PTV Corporation (PTVC) is nearing approval, promising to further media cooperation between the state broadcasters.

Ambassador Hashmi also discussed collaborative projects on cultural and historical research, specifically a joint effort to explore and document the civilizations along the Indus and Yangtze Rivers, which both originate in Tibet. This project involves scholars from both countries and is expected to culminate in a book and a documentary to commemorate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.

He also commented on the newly launched documentary ‘From Xi’an to Gwadar Port’, which celebrates the enduring friendship between the two countries and honors the contributions of those who worked on the Karakoram Highway.
