Islamabad: Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has directed the authorities concerned to ensure improved supply of gas to domestic consumers amid rising cold weather. Taking notice of challenges in gas availability due to increased demand in winter, he instructed Sui gas companies to provide immediate relief to household consumers. He said various options are under consideration to divert additional gas from the industrial sector to the domestic sector in order to stabilize supply.
According to Radio Pakistan, domestic gas supply has been increased from 691 to 746 million cubic feet per day since the sixth of this month. The company also reported that production at the Shiva gas field has been enhanced from 55 to 65 million cubic feet per day.
Meanwhile, Sui Southern Gas Company stated that the restoration of two gas fields has led to improvement in the overall supply situation. The company added that, compared to last year, an additional 39 million cubic feet per day of gas is being provided to domestic consumers.
