AJK marks 17th anniversary of deadly 2005 earthquake

In AJK, 17th anniversary to pay tributes and commemoration to the martyrs and express solidarity with victims of the catastrophic earthquake 2005 was observed today (Saturday).

Addressing the function in Muzaffarabad , the AJK Prime minister said thousands of lives claimed by the disastrous earthquake of 2005 is still fresh in our mind but we are determined to effectively respond to any natural calamity and divert government resources in that direction.

The prime minister thanked the brotherly Islamic of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UAE and China as well as the United States, UK, and European countries for generous contributions in relief and reconstruction.  He said Pak Army had made unprecedented contributions to the relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction work.

Prime minister placed a bouquet at the Martyrs’ Memorial.

All three stations of Azad Kashmir Radio broadcast documentaries and discussions on the observance of the day.
