Minister for Planning, Development and Special Measures Ahsan Iqbal has stressed on adopting climate resilient strategies during rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood hit areas in the country.
He was presiding over meeting of National Flood Response and Coordination Center in Islamabad on Friday.
Underlining the need for disaster prevention plans, the Minister said special measures should be taken to protect cultural and historical sites from natural disasters.
He said urbanization is a major challenge for our country therefore new cities with community based health and education projects need to be established to reduce population pressure on big cities.
The meeting reviewed the working plan of short and long term reconstruction projects for post disaster recovery and reconstruction strategy.
Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik and other relevant officials attended the meeting.
