ADB Commits to Supporting Expansion of Benazir Income Support Program

Islamabad: In a meeting aimed at strengthening ties and expanding support for underprivileged families in Pakistan, Emma Fan, the Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), assured full support for the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP). The discussions, held with BISP Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid, focused on enhancing skill training, facilitating international certifications, and providing overseas job opportunities for deserving families.

According to Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the meeting underscored the commitment of both ADB and BISP to deepen their collaborative efforts. Chairperson Khalid highlighted BISP’s significant role in providing financial support to 9.3 million families, with projections to reach 10 million by the year’s end. She also emphasized the importance of integrating provincial-level poverty graduation and skill development initiatives with BISP’s broader objectives.

Country Director Fan’s assurances reflect the ADB’s ongoing commitment to support Pakistan’s efforts in uplifting economically disadvantaged families through strategic international partnerships and enhanced capacity-building programs.
