Islamabad, April 17, 2019 (PPI-OT): A 20-member delegation of National Defence University (NDU) of Pakistan, headed by Brig. Waheed Gul Satti, is visiting Turkey as part of its Foreign Study Tour from 14-21 April. The delegation includes senior officers from Pakistan’s Armed Forces, Civil Service and officers from friendly countries who are attending the National Security and War Course, says a press release received here today from Ankara. During the delegation’s visit to the Pakistan Embassy, Ambassador Muhammad Syrus Sajjad Qazi briefed the group about the fraternal Pakistan-Turkey relationship.
“Sky is the limit for further elevating our ties, particularly in the defence field,” said Ambassador Qazi. He noted that efforts were under way to further strengthen ties in the economic field. He updated that both countries would soon sign Pakistan-Turkey Strategic Economic Framework Plan of Action, which will provide a solid foundation and framework for boosting economic ties. The NDU delegation visited Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey and its affiliated think-tank, Centre for Strategic Research (SAM).
Delegation members interacted with senior diplomats, academicians and researchers and exchanged views on regional and global situation with the Turkish participants. During their stay in Ankara, the NDU delegation also visited the Training and Doctrine Command of the Turkish Land Forces and was briefed about the Turkish military system. The delegation also visited the NATO-affiliated Centre of Excellence for Defence against Terrorism, Communication Academy and Training Center Command, as well as Turkish defence industry organisation, HAVELSAN.
During their stay in Istanbul, the NDU delegation will be visiting Turkish National Defence University and Multinational Joint Warfare Centre. It will also have an interactive session with the President and researchers of think-tank Association of Justice Defenders Strategic Studies Center (ASSAM). NDU is one of Pakistan’s premier training institutions. It is renowned as a center of excellence in academic and research pursuits, providing policy inputs on national security at a strategic level and acting as a national think-tank.
