Prime Minister Imran Khan has said the government is in the process of making laws to ensure construction of buildings as per international safety standards.
In a tweet today, he said these laws will also allow the buildings to go as high as in other cities across the world. Imran Khan said his future vision for cities is to allow buildings to rise vertically and allow for more green spaces. He said it is important because Pakistan is one of the most environmentally threatened countries. He said our arable land is being eaten up by housing societies and has grave consequences for our food security in the future.
The Prime Minister said avoiding large sprawling built-up areas will also allow easier provision of amenties to the urban dwellers.
