Sony's Mobile division has seen some tough times recently. Although the phones they put up are good, feature-packed devices, the dominance of Apple and Samsung in the European and US markets makes it tough for Sony phones to sell.
The lack of proper marketing, not to mention being one of the last major manufacturers to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack from their latest flagship model, made them lose even more sales.
Now, all eyes are again on Sony as they've confirmed their presence on the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 and the industry is waiting to see what they come up with.
The Big Comeback?
Sony has been using the MWC to announce new smartphones for a long time and from the press invite that they have sent out, the event for this year's launch is going to be held on 25th February in Barcelona, Spain.
The invite doesn't mention what they will be launching but all rumors and leaks point to the fact that their newest flagship, the Xperia XZ4 will be unveiled at the event.
The XZ4 is rumored to come with a huge 6.55-inch QHD+ OLED HDR display with an unusual aspect ratio of 21:9.
Powering the phone will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 which will be paired with 6GB of RAM. Keeping with the software updates from Google, it will run on Android 9.0 Pie and helping it last through the day will be a 3,900 mAh battery.
Camera configuration is currently disputed, but do expect to see a triple camera setup.
Although the launch of XZ4 is mostly confirmed, Sony might also launch the Xperia XA3, XA3 Ultra and an Xperia L3 on the event as well.
