Karachi, December 21, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Sunday Book Fair at Frere Hall, which used to draw a large number of book lovers, is going to be re-launched on December 30. This was decided at a meeting of authors, book sellers and book lovers chaired by Commissioner Karachi Iftikhar Shallwani, at his office The Commissioner Karachi said the city administration would extend all possible cooperation for the success of the Frere Hall book bazaar as it is considered a literary and cultural centre of the city.
The meeting decided that the city administration would organise the inauguration ceremony for the book bazaar on December 30 where more than 50 book stalls would be set up. A representative of book sellers assured the meeting that the Sunday book bazaar would be re-launched with the same vigour which used to be seen in the past.
A committee was constituted on the occasion to coordinate in the arrangements for the bazaar. National Book Foundation’s Sultan Khalil will be the coordinator of the committee. It was also decided that a Children’s Readers Corner would be set up in the bazaar where both old and new books would be available. A coffee shop would also be established where tea, coffee and other refreshments would be available for buyers.
