9.4 more people need humanitarian aid in South Sudan: UN

The United Nations says nearly 9.4 million people in South Sudan are in need of urgent humanitarian assistance.

In a statement, the Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan Sara Beysolow Nyanti, said currently, nearly a third of 12.4 million people are facing severe food insecurity.

She said humanitarian conditions have been worsened by endemic violence, conflict, access constraints and health challenges besides flooding and drought.
